LAWRENCE A. JOHNSON, DC, CCSP, ART

Dr. Lawrence Johnson graduated from New York Chiropractic College in 1978 and opened his own practice in Mineola in 1979. He is licensed to practice in the states of New York and Florida. As a lifelong athlete, Dr. Johnson had a passion for sports medicine that led him to become a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) in 1985 and Board Eligible for Diplomate American Board of Sports Chiropractic Physicians in 1993. Dr. Johnson has been practicing Active Release Technique (ART) since 1993 and also serves as an ART instructor. He is currently the team chiropractor for New York Islanders of the National Hockey League. Previously, he has served as the chiropractor for the Association for Tennis Professionals (ATP) in the Northeast United States as well as the ATP Hamlet Tennis Tournament for twelve years (1989-2000).  Dr. Johnson has provided chiropractic services for various MAC and AAU Track & Field Junior Olympic events and has served as the Medical/Chiropractic Director for the United States Figure Skating Association's (USFSA) Regional, Sectional, Junior National, and National Championships. In addition to working with local Little Leagues, Athletic Associations, high schools, and colleges, Dr. Johnson has treated numerous professional athletes on a national, international, and Olympic level. This includes football, baseball/softball, basketball, soccer, lacrosse, volleyball, tennis, and hockey players, swimmers, golfers, wrestlers, track & field, weight lifters, body builders, figure skaters, dancers, tri-athletes, and marathoners. He has also served as the official chiropractor for multiple dance companies, multiple triathlon teams including Ironman, and for the Nassau Coliseum.  Dr. Johnson is known for his extensive knowledge and experience in anatomy, neurology, biomechanics, and body mechanics. He is a member of the Professional Hockey Chiropractic Society, American Chiropractic Association, New York State Chiropractic Association, American Chiropractic Association Council on Sports Injury and Physical Fitness, New York State Chiropractic Council, and the Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research.
